GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Wake Forest junior Parker Dunshee was named the ACC Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.
The right-handed pitcher twirled a gem against No. 4-ranked Florida State on Friday night, tossing 7.0 shutout frames and striking out four on just two hits in a 9-0 victory.
Dunshee becomes the first Demon Deacon pitcher to receive the honor since Austin Stadler received Co-Pitcher of the Week honors in 2013. Tim Cooney was the last Deacon to not share the honor, earning it twice in 2012.
The Friday night victory paved the way for Wake Forest's first series victory over the Seminoles since 2002.
The Zionsville, Indiana native has anchored the pitching staff all season, holding a 5-3 record and 3.22 ERA. He holds a 55-to-16 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 58.2 innings on the mound, and has started both of Wake Forest's ACC shutouts, as the Deacs also blanked Duke, 12-0, on March 25.
Wake Forest is back in action on Tuesday, traveling to Appalachian State for a 6 p.m. first pitch.
