BOONE, N.C. -- Wake Forest hit four home runs, including the first two of Logan Harvey's career, to win a 15-9 slugfest over Appalachian State at Smith Stadium on Tuesday night.

Will Craig hit a towering bomb, his 11th of the season, in the third inning to give Wake Forest (23-17) a 5-4 lead it never relented. Harvey then hit a grand slam for his first career longball to cap off the six-run inning for Wake Forest.

After entering as a pinch runner, Kevin Conway drilled a three-run blast in his first at bat in the fourth inning, again increasing the Demon Deacons' cushion, this time to 12-6.

Harvey hit Wake Forest's last homer of the night in the sixth inning, a solo shot for his fifth RBI and fourth run scored of the game.

Wake Forest and Appalachian State (10-27) combined for seven homers, as the Mountaineers received four-baggers from Matt Vernon, Caleb McCann and Jason Curtis.

Making a return from a knee injury, Joey Rodriguez was limited to three plate appearances, which included a two-run triple, walk and hit by pitch.

Stuart Fairchild (2-for-4, double, walk, sac fly), Gavin Sheets (2-for-5, double, walk, two RBIs) and Johnny Aiello (2-for-4, double, walk, three runs scored) also had multi-hit games. Graduate transfer Ryan Morse recorded a hit in his first at bat at Wake Forest in the ninth inning.

On the mound, John McCarren (4-2) picked up the victory, allowing two runs (one earned) in 3.0 innings in relief. Garrett Kelly also struck out five in 2.0 one-hit frames.

The Deacon offense has come to life, hitting seven homers over the past four games. Before that, Wake Forest had been held without a homer in 11 straight games.

Wake Forest returns to ACC play this weekend, playing host to No. 13 North Carolina. The series begins on Friday at 6 p.m.
