DEDHAM, Mass. –
The 19th-ranked Wake Forest women's tennis team got back in the win column on Sunday evening, defeating No. 55 Boston College, 6-1, at the Dedham Health and Fitness Center in Dedham, Mass.

The victory improved the Demon Deacons' record to 17-6 with a 6-5 mark in the ACC. They have now defeated seven ranked teams.

The Deacs wasted little time getting the first point of the match, posting a pair of 6-1 wins in the doubles competition. Kimmy Guerin and Anna Ulyashchenko picked up their third win in as many weeks against a ranked tandem, downing No. 64 Lexi Borr and Jackie Urbinati. Luisa Fernandez and Andrea Retolaza Andrade's win at No. 3 was their 25th of the season, slotting them ninth in a single season in program history.

Emma Davis and Samantha Asch were leading, 4-3, at No. 2 when their match was abandoned.

In singles, wins at the Nos. 1, 3 and 4 positions gave Wake Forest the win. Guerin won at the top spot, edging the No. 113-ranked Borr in straight sets for her seventh triumph of the spring over a ranked opponent. Ulyashchenko topped Katya Vasilyev, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 3 and fellow rookie Joanna Zalewski nabbed her team-leading 18th singles win of the dual match season over Urbanati at No. 4.

No. 86-ranked Asiya Dair rallied to defeat Davis at No. 2 to put the host on the board and Fernandez closed out the contest by dispatching Heini Salonen in a single eight-game set, 8-3.

Sunday's victory against Boston College was the Deacons' first since 2010, snapping a five-match losing skid against the Eagles.

Wake Forest returns home next week to close out its regular-season home schedule by hosting No. 7 Miami on Friday and No. 57 Florida State on Sunday.
