Deacs Claim Five Titles at Aggie Invitational

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Wake Forest men's and women's track and field teams combined for five event wins at North Carolina A&T's Aggie Invitational on Saturday at the Irwin Belk Track in Greensboro, N.C.
Andrew Fea won the 800m, Kent Garrett won the 3,000m steeplechase and Michael Cyphers took first in the pole vault for the men, while Sydney White and Alexandria Florent won their respective events on the women's side. White competed in the pole vault, while Florent took part in the high jump.
White and Florent won titles for the second time in outdoor competition. Both took first place in their events at the Wake Forest Open in March.
The Deacs were originally scheduled to travel to the Tennessee Relays this Thursday through Saturday, but that meet was cancelled due to continued construction and renovation of the University of Tennessee's track and its facilities.
In addition to its event winners, Wake Forest added five top-five finishes, highlighted by runner-up showings from Peter Millsaps in the men's steeplechase and Amy Collins in the women's high jump.
Next week, the Deacons will send student-athletes to both the Campbell Invitational in Buies Creek, N.C. and the Mount SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif.
