EUGENE, Ore. – Wake Forest golfer Jennifer Kupcho was named an honorable mention All-American by the Women's Golf Coaches Association, the organization announced Tuesday (May 24). Kupcho becomes the fourth Demon Deacon to earn All-America honors as a freshman.
Kupcho concluded her first collegiate season with a scoring average of 73.18, a school freshman record and the second-best overall average in school history (Sierra Sims – 73.09 in 2014-15).
Earlier this week, Kupcho finished T-6th at the NCAA Championship, the best finish by a Wake Forest freshman at the tournament. She posted scores of 69-73-67-74 for a total of 283 during her four rounds at the event, becoming the first Demon Deacon to conclude the event under par. Kupcho shattered the school 72-hole NCAA Tournament record of a 1-over 289 by Natalie Sheary in 2011.
The Littleton, Colo., native joins Stephanie Neill (1992), Sheary (2008) and Michelle Shin (2010) as the only freshman All-Americans in Wake Forest history.
Kupcho will be in action this summer at the U.S. Women's Open, having qualified by winning the sectional qualifier in her home state of Colorado.
