STANFORD, Calif. – The Wake Forest women's golf team concluded play Saturday at the NCAA Stanford Regional. Freshman Jennifer Kupcho advanced to the NCAA Championship as an individual, but the Demon Deacons fell short of qualifying as a team with an eighth place finish.

The top six teams at the regional, along with the top three individuals from non-advancing squads, advanced to the NCAA Championship, held May 20-25 in Eugene, Ore. Wake Forest shot its best round of the tournament on Saturday, posting a final round 293, but finished the tournament in eighth place at 35-over, four shots out of the sixth and final qualifying spot.

Kupcho shot an even par final round 71 and finished the tournament at 1-under. She was T-6th on the individual leaderboard and advanced to Eugene with the second-lowest score among players on non-qualifying teams.

"Our team played much better today, but we couldn't make up the three shots," said head coach Dianne Dailey. "We were so close. The students fought hard and gave a great effort. I am excited for Jennifer. She played well and finished strong. I'm looking forward to her playing in her first NCAA Championship."

Joining Kupcho with the low round of the day by a Deacon was Sierra Sims, who also carded an even par round of 71. She finished the tournament T-22nd at 7-over.

Antonia Eberhard shot a 3-over 74 during the final round to finish the tournament T-42nd at 11-over.

Ines Laklalech rounded out the scoring four for the Deacs on Saturday with her best round of the tournament, a 6-over 77. She finished the championship at 26-over.

Erica Herr shot a final round 81 to end the tournament at 20-over.

The Deacs' season will conclude later this month as Kupcho competes for the individual national championship in Oregon at the NCAA Championship.
