RALEIGH, N.C. – Thirteen Demon Deacons competed at the Wake Forest track and field teams' second-to-last meet of the regular season, the Wolfpack Last Chance Meet, at Paul Derr Track and Field in Raleigh, N.C. on Friday.
Of the Deacons' competitors, six finished fifth or higher.
Highlighting the event on the men's side were Simon Holden and Kyle Johnson, who both finished third in their respective events. Holden completed the 800m dash in 1:48.98 and was followed by teammates Andrew Fea in seventh and John Archie in eighth. Johnson had his second-best hammer throw of the season with a toss of 57.59m.
Kent Garrett took fifth place in the steeplechase, clocking in at 9:31.82. Peter Millsaps finished less than five seconds later to place sixth.
For the women, Alva Hicks launched a 53.81m hammer throw to take fourth place, while Andrea Vahoua came in fifth at 52.38m. Hicks' throw was the second-furthest in school history, 0.85m shy of the program record she set at the Campbell Invitational in April.
Kathryn Lazarchick placed fifth as well, crossing the finish line in the 800m in 2:09.61.
