DURHAM, N.C. -- Wake Forest junior Will Craig was one of 25 amateur baseball players to be named semifinalists for the Golden Spikes Award on Wednesday, USA Baseball announced Wednesday.
Fans can vote for the award by clicking HERE.
Sponsored by Major League Baseball and presented in partnership with the Rod Dedeaux Foundation, the 39th Golden Spikes Award will be presented on June 30 in Los Angeles.
Craig is one of five players from the ACC to be named a semifinalist, second-most of any conference in the country.
This season, Craig has a .392 average with 16 doubles, 16 homers and 65 RBIs at the plate. On the mound, he has a 2-0 record and 2.42 ERA to go along with a team-best eight saves.
Last year, the Johnson City, Tennessee native was added to the Golden Spikes Award watch list midseason and made the cut to the final 30, but was not a semifinalist.
Starting on Wednesday, June 1, and running through Wednesday, June 8, fans will be able to vote for their favorite players at GoldenSpikesAward.com. The list of semifinalist will also be sent to a voting body consisting of past Golden Spikes Award winners, past USA Baseball National Team coaches and press officers, members of the media that closely follow the amateur game, select professional baseball personnel, and select current USA baseball staff, representing a group of more than 200 voters in total.
Previous winners of the award include Kris Bryant ('13), Bryce Harper ('10), Stephen Strasburg ('09), Buster Posey ('08), David Price ('07), and several others currently and formerly in Major League Baseball.
Wake Forest opens NCAA Regional play, its first NCAA berth since 2007, on Friday, as the third-seeded Deacons face second-seeded Minnesota. First pitch of the College Station Regional is slated for 4 p.m. ET and can be seen on ESPN3.
