Men's Basketball Announces 2016-17 Non-Conference Schedule

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- The Wake Forest men's basketball team announced its 2016-17 non-conference schedule Tuesday (June 14), which includes five home games at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

Television broadcast designations and tip-off times have not been set yet and will be announced by the ACC at a later date, along with the conference schedule.

The Demon Deacons will have five home non-conference games, beginning with the season-opener against Radford on Nov. 11. Two days later, Nov. 13, the Deacs welcome Bucknell as the teams meet for the third consecutive season. Coastal Carolina visits Winston-Salem for the second consecutive year for a Thanksgiving Eve contest on Nov. 23. Wake Forest and Charlotte will meet for the first time since 2007-08 when the 49ers visit on Dec. 6. The non-conference schedule concludes Dec. 22 as LSU makes its first-ever trip to Winston-Salem to conclude a home-and-home series between the schools.

The home schedule also includes a preseason exhibition on Nov. 4 against Piedmont International University.

The road portion of the non-conference schedule begins with an appearance in the Gildan Charleston Classic. The tournament will be played Nov. 17, 18 and 20 at the TD Arena in downtown Charleston, S.C., and the bracket will be announced at a later date. Reigning NCAA Champion Villanova, host College of Charleston, Boise State, Mississippi State, UCF, UTEP and Western Michigan will join Wake Forest in this year's event.

As previously announced, the Demon Deacons will travel to Northwestern on Nov. 28 as part of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. The road schedule will also include three other contests. Wake Forest will visit Richmond on Dec. 3, play UNCG at the Greensboro Coliseum on Dec. 9 and will travel to Xavier on Dec. 17 for the Skip Prosser Classic, the series that honors the late former head coach of both institutions.

The conference schedule will be announced by the ACC at a later date. The Demon Deacons will have home games against Boston College, Clemson, Duke, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Miami, North Carolina, NC State and Pitt. Wake Forest will travel to Boston College, Clemson, Duke, Florida State, NC State, Notre Dame, Syracuse, Virginia and Virginia Tech.
