GREENSBORO, N.C. – Five Demon Deacons were named to the ACC All-Academic Baseball Team, the league announced on Friday.
Kevin Conway, Parker Dunshee, Stuart Fairchild, John McCarren and Nate Mondou earned the honor for Wake Forest.
Wake Forest tied for the second-most honorees of any ACC schools, trailing only Louisville (seven).
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career for undergraduate students. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
Dunshee and Mondou each receive the honor for the third time, becoming two of just six in the league to do so.
Fairchild and Conway became two of 11 student-athletes in the league to earn the accolade for the second times in their career. McCarren is a first-time honoree.
Conway, a recent graduate as a finance major, set multiple career-highs this season as he played in all 62 games. He hit .259 with career-highs of 10 doubles, eight homers, 41 RBIs and eight stolen bases.
Dunshee, a finance major and Spanish minor, was drafted in the 14th round by the Cubs after an All-ACC season. He went 10-5 with a 3.20 ERA and became the first Deacon to surpass 100 strikeouts in more than a decade.
Fairchild, an economics major, earned All-ACC honors for the second straight year. He was the only Deacon to start all 62 games, hitting .293 with five homers and 47 RBIs, also leading the team with 20 doubles and 14 stolen bases.
McCarren, an economics major and entrepreneurship and social enterprise minor, had a career year on the mound. He went 7-3 to tally the second-most wins on the team, along with a 3.66 ERA in 66.1 innings over 27 appearances.
Mondou, a business and enterprise management major, played in all 62 games with 61 starts, hitting .302 with four doubles, 14 homers, 35 RBIs and 50 runs scored, earning a first team All-ACC nod for the second consecutive year. He was drafted by the Oakland A's in the 13th round and began his pro career this week.
