Demon Deacons Open the Season at Charlotte Preview

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- The Wake Forest cross country team opens the 2016 season Friday as the Demon Deacons head to Concord, North Carolina, for the Charlotte Preview. Charlotte will serve as the meet hosts with the women's race beginning at 5 p.m. and the men following at 5:40.
The Demon Deacons will send a lineup consisting of mostly newcomers on the men's side while the women's team will feature a combination of veterans and newcomers. Wake Forest will run against Charlotte and Davidson in the meet.
Friday's meet is the first of four meets for Wake Forest leading up to the ACC Championships, which will be held in Cary, North Carolina, on Oct. 28. The Charlotte Preview is one of five total meets the Deacs will run in the state of North Carolina while a trip to Terre Haute, Indiana, on October 15 will serve as the final tune-up meet prior to ACC Championships.
Wake Forest was selected to finish 12th in the ACC Preseason Poll on both the men's and women's side under first year head coach John Hayes. The full preseason poll is below.
