
Demon Deacons Fall to Louisville, 2-0

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Demon Deacons fell to Louisville, 2-0, on Friday at Kentner Stadium.
Wake Forest (4-4) was stumped by a strong Louisville defense in the first half, failing to record a shot, but Louisville (8-1) came out swinging. The Cardinals recorded 10 shots in the half while Wake Forest goalie Cat O'Connor recorded three saves. Lotta Kahlert put the Cardinals on the board in the 31st minute with an unassisted, top-shelf goal.
The Deacs managed to get three shots in the second half. Madi Julius recorded two shots, both on goal, while Nicola Pluta recorded a shot off a penalty corner. O'Connor tallied another three saves in the half but Cardinal Lizzie Gittens doubled the lead for Louisville in the 63rd minute with a goal off a penalty corner. Louisville would take the game, 2-0.
The Deacs recorded a season-low three shots and one penalty corner on the night while the Cardinals tallied 15 shots and five penalty corners. Cat O'Connor was strong in goal, recording a season-high-tying six saves.
The Demon Deacons face the Golden Bears of California on Sunday. The game will take place at 12 p.m. in Kentner Stadium.
