DALLAS – Wake Forest senior captain Parker Dunshee was named a Preseason Third Team All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA), the organization announced on Tuesday.
Dunshee, returning for his senior season after being drafted in the 14th round by the Chicago Cubs a year ago, was a third team All-ACC pick in 2016.
He posted the first 100-strikeout season for a Wake Forest pitcher in more than a decade, finishing with a 10-5 record and 3.20 ERA as the team's Friday night starter last year.
Through three seasons, Dunshee has a 19-9 career record with a 2.87 ERA in addition to five saves. He has struck out 219 batters in 222.2 career innings.
He is expected to be one of Wake Forest's opening day starters when the Demon Deacons take on Nicholls and Houston in a doubleheader on Feb. 17.
