
Deacs Cap Day One at Raleigh Relays

RALEIGH, N.C. - The Wake Forest men's and women's track and field programs earned five top-10 finishes in the opening day of competition at the Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, N.C.
Max Adams, Hunter Roberts, Casidy Howard and Ellie Abrahamson all finished within the top-10 in their respective events among tough competition in a meet that involved 100 schools and over 2,200 athletes.
Adams opened the day with a second-place finish in the men's Discus after throwing a best mark of 54.05m. Adams entered the Discus finals in third place with a mark of 50.94m only to throw his best mark on throw four to make the jump into second place.
In his next event, Adams took fifth with a best mark of 15.71m in the Shot Put to claim his second top-five finish of the day.
Howard took sixth place in the women's Discus with a throw of 48.35m, just half a meter short of her personal best and the school record.
Roberts finished seventh overall in the women's 100m Hurdles with a time of 14.28 after taking third in her heat while Abrahamson set a personal best in her ninth-place finish in the 1500m with a time of 4:25.10, replacing a previous best of 4:34.12 set last season.
Also in the 1500m, sophomores Jenna Truedson and Beatrice Boylan ran personal best times of 4:34.78 and 4.35.19.
In the men's 1500m, Sebastian Fischbach, in only his second competition of both the indoor and outdoor track seasons, took 19th with a time of 3:49.30 while in their first 1500m ever, freshmen Mitch Dyer and Angelos Vasileiou finished at 3:55.02 and 3:57.15, respectively.
In the distance events, Craig Corti shaved 14 seconds off his personal best time in the men's 5000m, finishing today at 14:27.63 to replace a previous best of 14:41.83.
In the women's 5000m, Mimi Smith, competing in her first event since November, smashed her previous best time by over 35 seconds to land a 22nd-place finish at 16:54.77. Also in the event, Cate Allen finished with a time of 17:33.03.
Alexander Giacco cut almost 45 seconds off his 10,000m time with his 30:41.58 finish while in his first-ever 10K, Myers McKinney finished with a time of 31:14.52.
In the sprint events, Kaleb Bryant recorded a personal best time in the men's 400m at 50.61. On the women's side, Jordan Banks recorded a time of 59.58 in her first-ever open 400m while Maya Hinton finished with a time of 59.75.
Back in the field, Jessica Molina had a best mark of 14.16m in the Shot Put, good for 14th, while Howard had a best throw of 12.05m.
Amy Collins finished 20th in the Long Jump with a best mark of 5.38m to round out the field events.
Competition in the Raleigh Relays resumes Saturday, March 25 at 10 a.m.
