The Matchup
• After the cancellation on Tuesday, Wake Forest now turns its sights to a 6 p.m. Wednesday game at Davidson.
Last Time Out
• Wake Forest took 1-of-3 games from Clemson on the road over the weekend. In the series finale, Gavin Sheets broke a seventh-inning tie with what proved to be a game-winning grand slam. He now leads the ACC with 15 homers, and leads the nation with 63 RBIs.
• Stuart Fairchild was named the Player of the Week by the ACC, NCBWA, Perfect Game and Collegiate Baseball Newspaper. He finished last week with a .500 average, four home runs, three doubles and 14 RBIs as the Deacs went 5-0. In the series sweep against Notre Dame, he homered on both Saturday and Sunday. He has reached base in 40 straight games.
Wake Forest Storylines
• The Deacons are a consensus top-25 team for the first time in more than a decade. Wake Forest is ranked by Baseball America (17), NCBWA (19), USA Today Coaches (19), D1Baseball (21), Collegiate Baseball (23) and Perfect Game (23).
• Wake Forest is looking to pick up its 30th win in its fewest number of games since 2006, when the Deacs did so in 43 games (30-13 start).
• Three different Demon Deacons have double-digit home run totals: Gavin Sheets (13), Johnny Aiello (13) and Stuart Fairchild (11), with Bruce Steel (nine) right behind. The last time Wake Forest had at least three players in double figures was 2001: Jamie D'Antona (17), Carlos Brackley (14), Cory Sullivan (13) and Corey Slavik (10).
Opponent And Series History
• Wake Forest leads the all-time series by a 57-13 margin, including wins in all three matchups since the start of 2016. In the last meeting, a 13-5 win on Feb. 28, the Deacs totaled 18 hits. Keegan Maronpot led the way with a 3-for-3 effort, including his first-career grand slam and five total RBIs.
• Davidson enters with a 21-16 record overall. The Wildcats earned a sweep over the weekend, taking down North Carolina A&T in three straight games. Brian Fortier leads the team with 11 homers and 37 RBIs, also hitting .322.

• Wake Forest heads into a week-long break for final exams before resuming play against Boston College (May 5-7).
