The Matchup
• No. 12-ranked and third-seeded Wake Forest opens the ACC Championship with games against 10th-seeded Georgia Tech (moved to Thursday at noon on Louisville's campus) and seventh-seeded Miami (moved to Friday at Louisville Slugger Stadium).
Last Time Out
• Wake Forest claimed a series victory over Pitt with a 14-4 victory on Sunday. The Demon Deacons broke a fifth-inning tie with a nine-run inning, including a grand slam by Keegan Maronpot as he led the offense with two homers and five RBIs.
Wake Forest Storylines
• The Deacons are a consensus top-25 team for the first time this year in more than a decade. Wake Forest is ranked by Baseball America (12), D1Baseball (14), USA Today Coaches (16), Collegiate Baseball (16), NCBWA (17) and Perfect Game (18).
• Wake Forest has locked up a top-three seed at the ACC Baseball Championship for the first time in more than a decade. With Georgia Tech's loss to Miami on Tuesday, the Deacs need a win over Miami to advance into Saturday's semifinal.
• For the first time in program history, five different Demon Deacons have double-digit home run totals: Gavin Sheets (19), Johnny Aiello (18), Stuart Fairchild (13), Bruce Steel (12) and Keegan Maronpot (12). The last time Wake Forest had at least four players in double figures was 2001.
• Wake Forest has set program records for ACC victories in a season (19), ACC series wins (eight) and All-ACC honorees (nine).
Opponent And Series History
• Wake Forest is 1-3 all-time against Miami in the ACC Championship, most recently falling by a 6-3 margin in 2012. Georgia Tech is 10-4 against the Deacs in ACC Championship action, including a 5-3 victory in the opening round in 2014.
• The Deacs played both the Yellow Jackets and the Hurricanes this year. Wake Forest claimed the Saturday and Sunday games over Georgia Tech at home, then went on the road to take a pair in Coral Gables for the first time in program history.
Looking Ahead
• If Wake Forest advances out of Pool C, it will play the Pool B (UNC/NC State/Boston College) winner on Saturday at 5 p.m.
