SUGAR GROVE, Ill. – Wake Forest golfer Will Zalatoris will conclude his junior season this week as he competes as an individual at the 2017 NCAA Men's Golf Championship. The tournament will begin on Friday at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Ill., with individual play concluding on Monday.
Zalatoris advanced to the NCAA Championship after finishing fifth at the NCAA Austin Regional, the highest finisher among players on non-advancing teams. He shot 3-under at the tournament, the seventh consecutive tournament he finished under par.
Zalatoris is currently ranked No. 4 nationally in the GolfStat individual rankings and was the ACC Player of the Year. An All-ACC selection for the third consecutive year, his scoring average of 70.00 ranks second in school history, behind Bill Haas' school-record 68.93 in 2004. He has six top-five finishes this season, including a win at the General Hackler Championship and three runner-up finishes.
The first three rounds of the NCAA Championship will be held Friday-Sunday with a final round on Monday for players and teams that make the cut. The final round on Monday will air live on the Golf Channel.
