WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – For the second consecutive season, senior Kimmy Guerin of the Wake Forest women's tennis team has been selected to compete in the NCAA Women's Tennis Singles Championship. The singles championship will be held May 24-29 at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Georgia, after the conclusion of the team championship.
A second team All-ACC honoree this season, Guerin earned an at-large bid into 64-player field. Last year, Guerin became the first Demon Deacon since 2011 to appear in the tournament, ultimately falling to Kaitlyn McCarthy of Duke in the opening round.
A three-time All-ACC selection, Guerin is ranked No. 55 in the country in singles and has been ranked as high as No. 33 this season. The native of Weston, Connecticut has posted a team-leading 25 wins this year and is 19-7 in the No. 1 singles spot during dual play. Guerin owns a winning record against ranked opponents this year, going 10-7, and became the first player in seven years to win 150 career matches in singles and doubles combined.
As a team, the Demon Deacons punched their second-straight ticket to the NCAA Tournament, earning the No. 3 seed in the Columbia Regional. Wake Forest will open tournament play on Friday, May 12, against No. 2 seed Texas.
