WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Wake Forest men's tennis ended its stay at the Winston-Salem Open Sunday afternoon, as four Demon Deacons took to the courts during Day 2 of the ATP 250 event.
On the heels of his upset victory in the opening round of qualifying, Borna Gojo was looking to become the first Deac to ever win two matches in qualifying at the event as he took on Alex Bolt of Australia. After dropping the first set, 6-0, the rising sophomore broke Bolt in the opening game of the second set. Gojo then broke Bolts serve again in the final service game to close out a 6-3 victory in the second set.
Gojo couldn't maintain the momentum, however, falling in the decisive third set, 6-1.
Petros Chrysochos, who played in the qualifying rounds a year ago, made his ATP World Tour main draw debut Sunday, as he drew Dusan Lajovic in the opening round. Chrysochos couldn't upset Lajovic, ranked 82nd in the latest ATP rankings, falling 6-2, 6-3.
In the doubles draw, the duo of Skander Mansouri and Christian Seraphim faced Julio Peralta and Horacio Zeballos in the opening round. The two teams would hold serve all the way to a first-set tiebreaker, which Mansouri and Seraphim dropped 7-3. The Wake Forest duo couldn't force a third set, falling 6-3 in the second set.
