
Zlobinsky's Run Ends at Cary Challenger

CARY, N.C. -- Redshirt junior Julian Zlobinsky's run at the ATP Cary Challenger came to an end Thursday (Sept. 14) afternoon, as he fell to Marcelo Arevalo in the Round of 16.
In his first competition since joining the Deacs this offseason, Zlobinsky advanced through three rounds of qualifying and the opening round of the main draw before facing Arevalo in the Round of 16. Arevalo, ranked 219th in the ATP World Rankings, took the opening set 6-2. Zlobinsky fought back in the second, forcing a tiebreaker. In the end, Arevalo narrowly edged Zlobinsky 7-5 in the tiebreaker to seal the match.
Former Demon Deacon Noah Rubin, the No. 6 seed in the field, moved onto the quarterfinals of the tournament with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Joao Pedro Sorgi. Rubin will face No. 6 seed Christian Garin in the quarterfinals after Garin earned a 6-1, 6-4 victory on Thursday.
