Wake Forest to Race at Paul Short Run

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest men's and women's cross country teams will compete in the 44th annual Paul Short Run Friday, Sept. 29. Lehigh University will host the meet that takes place at the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
The men will compete in the Gold 8k race at 11 a.m. followed by the women in the Gold 6k race at 11:45 a.m. Between the two squads, the Deacs will compete alongside fellow ACC schools Georgia Tech and Duke, as well as USTFCCCA-ranked teams Georgetown, Mississippi State, Utah State and Villanova.
Seven Demon Deacons are slated to compete on the men's side. Freshmen Mitchell Day, William Hunsdale and Daniel Viegra will be making their Demon Deacon debuts on Friday. Juniors Craig Corti and Mitchell Dyer are also expected to race for the first time this season.
Seven women are entered to represent Wake Forest. Senior Cate Allen will be competing in her first race of the season while sophomore transfer Hannah Brookover will make her debut as a Demon Deacon.
Last time out, the men finished third and the women fifth in the Adidas XC Challenge on Sept. 15. Angelos Vasileiou paced the men with his 25th-place finish while Eliza Lukens-Day led the women with her 15th-place finish.
Up next, the Demon Deacons will head to Louisville, Kentucky for the first of potentially three times this season to compete in the Pre-National Invitational on Oct. 14. The Deacs will return to Louisville on Oct. 27 for the ACC Championships and the NCAA Cross Country Championships are slated to be held in Louisville as well on Nov. 18.
