Wake Forest Heads to Navy Invitational

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. --The Wake Forest men's and women's track and field teams will travel to Annapolis, Maryland to compete in the Navy Invitational Jan. 12-13.
The meet begins Friday afternoon at 4 p.m. with the women's indoor pentathlon. The remainder of the competition begins in the field at 11 a.m. and on the track at 11:45 a.m. on Saturday.
The Deacs will send 20 men and 17 women to the competition to compete in 21 total events. Wake Forest will compete against host Navy, George Mason, Mt. St. Mary's, Penn and South Carolina in the two-day meet.
Last time out, the Deacons claimed nine event titles at the UNCG Early Bird Duals along with 19 top-five finishes. Luke Annichiarico and Tesia Kempski swept the men's and women's pole vault while Alva Hicks won the shot put at weight throw. Alexandria Florent claimed the high jump title to wrap up the field events. On the track, John Archie claimed the men's 800m, Robbie Barr took the men's mile and Cydney Delley won the women's 400m in her first-ever collegiate competition. The women's 4x400m relay team consisting of Delley, Maya Hinton, Jordan Banks and Sarah Johnson grabbed the last title for the Deacs.
Following their trip to Annapolis, the Demon Deacons will return to the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem for the Wake Forest Invitational Jan. 20-21.
