THE MATCHUP
• No. 16 Wake Forest will continue play at home as it hosts ninth-ranked Syracuse on Sunday, Oct. 14, at 11 a.m.
• The match was originally scheduled for Saturday, but was postponed to Sunday,

LAST TIME OUT
• The Deacs fell to top-ranked North Carolina on the road, but bounced back with an 8-3 win over Appalachian State on Sunday at home.
• Senior Jule Grashoff scored a career-high four goals in the match and four other Deacons, Jess Pianko, Veerle Bos, Kelsey Gill and Megan Anderson found the back of the net.
• Anderson tied a career-high with three assists in the win.
QUICK HITS
• Head coach Jen Averill returns for her 27th season at the helm of the program
• The Deacons return 13 players from last year's squad, led by Jule Grashoff, who led the team with 16 goals and 14 assists. The club also welcomes eight new freshmen.
• Grashoff was recently tabbed Preseason ALL-ACC, voted on by the league's seven coaches. Wake Forest was picked to finish seventh in the conference.
• Former U.S. National Team captain Melissa Gonzalez joins Wake Forest as an assistant coach. Gonzalez spent the past eight years competing with the U.S. Women's National Team and representing Team USA at two Olympic Games.
• Megan Anderson leads the nation in assists per game with 1.23. She has tallied 16 assists so far this season.
SCOUTING THE ORANGE
• Syracuse enters the weekend ranked No. 9 with an 8-4 overall record and 1-3 mark in ACC play.
• The Orange are coming off back-to-back wins over No. 8 Boston College and Cal.
• Roos Weers has been selected as the ACC Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week.
• Chiara Gutsche leads the Orange with eight goals, while Roos has added seven goals and a team-high 17 points.
• In the net, keeper Borg van der Velder has notched over 833 minutes with 55 saves.
LOOKING AHEAD
• Wake Forest will hit the road for a pair of meetings against Virginia on Friday, Oct. 19 at 5 p.m., followed by VCU on Sunday, Oct. 21 at 1 p.m.
• The Deacs will return home for their final regular season game against Davidson on Sunday, Oct. 28 at 1 p.m.
