Grashoff tied a career-high with four goals in the win

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.- Behind four goals from senior Jule Grashoff, the Deacons shutout Davidson 7-0 in non-conference action on Sunday at Kentner Stadium in the regular season finale. Seniors Veerle Bos and Megan Anderson both set career-highs with four assists in the contest.

Wake Forest took 30 shots in the game, 17 of which were on target- both season highs for the Deacs. The defense held the Wildcats shotless until the final few seconds of action. With seven goals and nine assists, the Deacons accumulated a season-high 23 points in the match.

The Deacon offense could not be contained as Wake Forest scored five goals in the first half- three from Grashoff for the early hat trick. Three of the five goals in the first period came off penalty corners, while Kelsey Gill added a goal right down the middle and Grashoff found Eleanor Winants on the left side for the tip-in as Wake Forest took a 5-0 lead into the break.

Out of the half, Grashoff tied her career-high four goals that she set earlier in the season against Appalachian State with a penalty corner in the 59th-minute with Bos and Anderson on the assists. Grashoff now has 18 goals and 39 points for Wake Forest this season.

Anderson capped the game with the Deacons' seventh goal of the game at the 68-minute mark with an unassisted shot off a penalty corner rebound. The Melbourne, Australia native finished the game with six points behind four assists and one goal.

Cat O'Connor earned the start in the net and played the first 35 minutes before handing it over to Isla Bint for the second half, while O'Connor made appearances as a field player for the remainder of the match. The Deacons have now recorded two shutout victories on the season.

Up next, Wake Forest will head to Chapel Hill, N.C. for the ACC Championship. The sixth-seeded Deacons will face No. 3 Louisville on Thursday, Nov. 1 at 4 p.m.
