WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest women's golf coach Kim Lewellen announced Tuesday that Rachel Kuehn and Lauren Walsh have signed a letter of intent and will join the Demon Deacon program in 2019-20.
"These two young ladies are outstanding additions to our program," said Lewellen. "Both Rachel and Lauren bring to Wake Forest not only an outstanding golf resume, but also one in the classroom and in the community. I look forward to all our Deacon fans getting to know these wonderful student-athletes."
A native of Asheville, Kuehn is one of the top amateur golfers in North Carolina. She won the 2018 North Carolina Amateur Championship and is a three-time All-State honoree, winning two NCISAA individual titles. She represented the Dominican Republic last summer at the World Amateur Team Championship in Ireland. Kuehn is a second-generation Demon Deacon athlete, as her mother, Wake Forest Hall of Famer Brenda Corrie Kuehn, won five tournaments during her career on the golf team, and her father, Eric, played baseball for the Deacs.
Walsh is from Kildare, Ireland, where she has been a member of the Irish Girls Team. Ranked No. 320 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings, she finished in the top 30 at last year's World Junior Girls Championship. She has also represented Ireland at the European Ladies Team Championship in addition to numerous junior teams.
Kuehn and Walsh will join a Demon Deacon program that concluded the fall schedule ranked No. 14 nationally by GolfStat.
