Rrezart Cungu won the A1 singles draw while Charles Parry won the C1 consolation title in Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Rrezart Cungu capped his undefeated weekend on Sunday (Nov. 4), winning a pair of matches to claim the A1 singles title at the Charlotte 49ers Fall Invitational.

Competing in the top flight of action, Cungu first advanced to the championship with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Thomas Brown of South Carolina in the semifinals. Cungu then captured the title with a quick 6-1, 6-2 victory over Charlotte's Oriol Puig, 6-1, 6-2.

Elsewhere, Charles Parry won a pair of matches over competitors from Gardner Webb to win the consolation draw in the C1 draw. Parry came from behind to defeat Jacob Wall, 1-6, 6-2, 6-2, before topping Nicolas Ulehia by a 6-4, 7-6(4) margin.

Ryan Mueller, competing in the A2 singles draw, dropped his consolation semifinal match to Brooks Green of Davidson before defeating Beau Pelletier of South Carolina in an additional consolation match.

The Demon Deacons are back in action next weekend at a pair of events. Bar Botzer, Petros Chrysochos and Cungu all earned singles berths to the ITA National Fall Championships, held Nov. 7-11, in Surprise, Arizona. Additionally, the Deacs will be hosting the Wake Forest Invitational Nov. 9-11 at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex.
