Women’s Tennis Concludes Fall Action at Bulldog Invitational

ATHENS, GA. – The Wake Forest women's tennis team completed the Bulldog Invitational hosted by the University of Georgia on Sunday. The format of the tournament simulated dual match play as the Deacons faced off against Illinois, Vanderbilt and host team Georgia.
Following a strong day on Saturday where five Deacs picked up singles win over Illinois and three of the four doubles teams defeated duos from Georgia, Wake Forest stumbled in the final day of action picking up one singles win and one doubles victory.
Wake Forest took on Georgia on the singles courts to begin day three of the tournament. The Bulldogs won five of the six contests. 88th-ranked Eliza Omirou earned the Deacs' first win of the day with a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Alee Clayton.
In doubles action, Anna Ulyashchenko and Alexis Franco defeated Carolyn Campana and Lauren Gish 6-1. On court two, Mary Meredith and Omirou battled, but ultimately fell 7-6 (9) to the Commodores on court two.
The Georgia Invitational concludes fall play for many of the Deacons. Senior Emma Davis will compete in the 2018 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships kicking off next weekend (Nov. 7) in Surprise, Ariz. Davis enters the tournament as an All-American quarterfinalist after her performance at the ITA All-American Championships earlier in the season.
