SURPRISE, Ariz. –
A trio of Deacs made the trip to Surprise, Arizona for the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships, which began play Wednesday (Nov. 7).

Petros Chrysochos, the top seed in the field, was the lone Deac to advance to the Round of 32, as Bar Botzer and Rrezart Cungu each dropped three-set decision.

Chrysochos, the No. 1 player in the country, quickly punched his ticket to the second round of play with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Mississippi State's Trevor Foshey. He'll face Andy Andrade of Florida in the Round of 32.

Botzer faced 12th-seeded and 81st-ranked Laurens Verboven of Southern Cal and blanked the Trojan in a tiebreaker to take the opening set, 7-6(0). The sophomore couldn't maintain the advantage, falling 6-3, 6-2, in the final two sets.

Cungu drew No. 58 Kyle Seelig of Ohio State in the opening round. After taking a 6-4 decision in the first set, Cungu's run ended with 6-3, 6-0 defeats in the second and third sets, respectively.

The duo will fall into the consolation draw, with action set to resume Thursday morning.
