
Cross Country Competes Friday at NCAA Southeast Regional

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Wake Forest men's and women's cross country teams travel to Rock Hill, S.C. this week for the NCAA Southeast Regional. The meet, one of nine regional meets, will be held at the Winthrop University Recreation Complex.
The women's race will start at 11 a.m., with the men's race following at 12 p.m. The top two teams at each of the nine NCAA Regionals will automatically qualify for the NCAA Championship meet later this month in Wisconsin. There will also be 13 at-large selections to the NCAA Championship among teams that did not finish in the top two at regionals, while the top four individual finishers at each regional from non-advancing teams will qualify to compete as individuals.
In the 6K women's race, the Demon Deacons will run a squad of Samantha Halvorsen, Mimi Smith, Elise Wright, Hannah Brookover, Georgia Evans, Johanna Schulz and Anna Campbell. In the 10K men's race, Wake Forest will be represented by Zach Facioni, Mitchell Day, Daniel Viegra, Joaquin Martinez de Pinillos, Jack Tiernan, Craig Corti and Myers McKinney.
The Wake Forest men have qualified for the NCAA Championship nine times, the most recently in 2001, while the women have qualified 11 times, most recently in 2006.
