THE MATCHUP
• Wake Forest earned a bid into the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive year and the third time in the past four seasons. 
• The Deacons will face No. 7 Iowa in the first round of the tournament on Friday, Nov. 9 at 2:30 in Durham, N.C. 
• This will be the second matchup for the teams this season after meeting at the ACC/Big Ten Challenge in the season opener. Iowa defeated the Deacs 2-1. 
• A win over Iowa would advance the Deacons to the second round where they would face the winner of Duke and Boston/Miami (OH) on Sunday at 1 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
• Wake Forest advanced to the semifinals of the ACC Championship with a 3-2 win over No. 12 Louisville on Thursday. Freshman Grace Sambrook scored the first goal of her career, while seniors Jule Grashoff and Emily Adamson each added one.
• The Deacs upset third-ranked Duke in the semis, with a thrilling 4-3 victory. Both offenses were firing, but goals from Sambrook, Elisha Evans, Laia Vancells and Grashoff clinched the victory for Wake Forest. 
• In the ACC Championship game, the top-ranked North Carolina Tar Heels earned the ACC title with a 7-2 victory over the Deacs. It was Wake Forest's first trip to the ACC final since winning the title in 2014 over Syracuse. 

QUICK HITS
• Head coach Jen Averill returns for her 27th season at the helm of the program  
• The Deacons return 13 players from last year's squad, led by Jule Grashoff, who paced the team with 16 goals and 14 assists. The club also welcomes eight new freshmen. 
• Grashoff was tabbed Preseason All-ACC, voted on by the league's seven coaches. Wake Forest was picked to finish seventh in the conference. 
• Former U.S. National Team captain Melissa Gonzalez joins Wake Forest as an assistant coach. Gonzalez spent the past eight years competing with the U.S. Women's National Team and representing Team USA at two Olympic Games. 
• Anderson leads the nation in assists per game with 1.35. She has notched 27 assists so far this season. 
• Grashoff ranks fifth nationally and leads the ACC in goals per game (1.10) with 22 total goals. Her 67 career goals ranks third all-time in Wake Forest history.
• Grashoff garnered All-ACC First Team honors, while Anderson, Veerle Bos and Anne van Hoof were all named Second Team. 

SCOUTING THE HAWKEYES
• Iowa enters the Tournament at No. 7 in the NFHCA Poll. 
• The Hawkeyes fell to Maryland in the Big Ten Tournament Championship last weekend. 
• Maddy Murphy leads the Hawkeyes with 13 goals and 33 points, while Katie Birch has added a team-high 10 assists to go with eight goals for 26 points. 
• Defensively, Leslie Speight has played every minute in the net for the Hawkeyes this season. She has made 58 saves and is averaging 0.97 goals allowed per game.
