HUMBLE, Texas – The Wake Forest men's golf team continued play Saturday at the All-American Intercollegiate with the second round at the Golf Club of Houston. The Demon Deacons shot 6-under to climb from ninth place to sixth place at 8-under through 36 holes.

Auburn has the second-round lead at 31-under, followed by Baylor at 18-under and co-host Houston at 14-under. South Carolina is at 12-under, while Ole Miss is a shot ahead of the Deacs at 9-under.

"It was a good day for the Deacs," said head coach Jerry Haas. "We had 20 birdies among the four counting scores, which was seven more than yesterday. That helps because the last few holes are pretty hard. We ended up with one of the three best rounds of the day and that shows how everyone was ready to play today."

Lee Detmer and Paul McBride led the Deacs on Saturday, each posting a second-round 69. For Detmer, it was his second straight 3-under round as he is T-6th at 6-under through 36 holes. McBride is T-15 at 3-under for the tournament.

Eric Bae shot a 2-under 70 on Saturday to finish the day at 1-under. Marco Steyn had a 2-over 74 and Parker Gillam had a 4-over 76 to round out the lineup.

The tournament concludes Sunday at the Golf Club of Houston, which also host the Houston Open on the PGA Tour.
