The Matchups:
The No. 10 Demon Deacons travel to Montgomery, Alabama to take part in the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic, starting on Friday, Feb. 23.
The Demon Deacons are the No. 2 seed in the eight-team field and will take on UAB on Friday, Feb. 23 at 9 a.m. Then, the Deacs will play the doubles portion of their next match at 3:30 p.m before concluding the match on Saturday, Feb. 24 at 8:30 a.m.
Last Time Out:
Wake Forest dropped a heartbreaker in its ACC opener at Clemson on Sunday, Feb. 18.
The Tigers took the doubles point and the teams split six singles matches, giving Clemson the 4-3 win.
Wake Forest's Emma Davis, ranked No. 77 at the time, defeated Clemson's Marie Leduc, the No. 15 ranked singles player, 6-4, 5-7, 6-0.
Deacs in the Rankings:
After a 6-2 start to the season, the Demon Deacons have soared up the national rankings.
In the ITA's weekly poll, the Demon Deacons have moved up to No. 10.
It is their first top-10 ranking in the ITA poll since the 2001-2002 season.
Wake Forest has two players in the top 100 of the ITA's singles rankings. Junior Emma Davis has moved all the way up to No. 33, while Eliza Omirou comes in at No. 63.
Davis's No. 33 national ranking is the highest singles ranking for a Deac since 2011.
The duo of Emma Davis and Chandler Carter sits at No. 31.
The Field:
The eight-team field includes No. 5 Illinois, No. 26 Auburn and No. 31 Alabama.
The Demon Deacons defeated Auburn, 4-1, at the ITA National Women's Tennis Team Indoor Championship on Feb. 11.
