The Matchup
Wake Forest returns home to continue ACC play, taking on No. 11 Louisville in a three-game series on ACC Network Extra.
Promotions
Friday - Teams will compete in the Cook-out cup.
Saturday - Bark in the Park. Bring your dogs to the ballpark. There will also be St. Patrick's Day fun, and green waffles will be served on the concourse.
Sunday - The first set of team trading cards will be released. It's also Dollar Dog Day - $1 hot dogs.
Last Time Out
Wake Forest fell by a 13-1 score to Charlotte at BB&T Ballpark, home of the Charlotte Knights.
The 49ers scored four in the first and never let the Deacs back in the game.
Bobby Seymour tallied two hits, while Cole McNamee and William Fleming had scoreless outings out of the bullpen.
Wake Forest Storylines
Wake Forest has continued its recent ACC success, winning nine of the past 11 conference series dating back to 2017.
The Demon Deacons are a youthful squad in 2018, having started six different freshmen position players, while five rookies have seen time on the mound. Out of the position players, 68 starts have been made by freshmen, compared to 38 for sophomores, 47 for juniors and none by seniors.
On the mound, More than two-thirds of innings pitched have been by underclassmen. None have been thrown by seniors, 49.0 by juniors, 76.2 innings by sophomores and 28.2 frames from the freshmen.
The Deacs are coming off their second Super Regional appearance, finishing a game away from the College World Series. Wake Forest finished the year with a 43-20 record and set program records in ACC wins (19), ACC series wins (eight), All-ACC honorees (nine), MLB Draft picks (eight) and home runs (106).
Opponent And Series History
Louisville is coming off its fourth College World Series appearance in 2017 and enters the weekend with a 15-2 overall record. The Cardinals opened the year 14-0 but dropped the series finale to No. 13 North Carolina and split two midweek games against No. 5 Texas Tech.
The Cardinals rank in the top five nationally with 33 stolen bases, led by Josh Stowers (10) and Jake Snider (nine). Louisville is hitting .294 as a team. On the mound, Sam Bordner has pitched in eight games without allowing a run, tallying seven saves and a win.
Louisville leads the all-time series, 9-1. Wake Forest won the series-opener in Louisville last year before the Cards claimed the last two games to clinch the series.

Wake Forest hits the road for four straight, beginning with a midweek trip to App State on Tuesday.
