WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Griffin Roberts struck out 13 batters on the mound and DJ Poteet blasted his second walk-off homer in a week as Wake Forest knocked off No. 11 Louisville, 2-1, at David F. Couch Ballpark on Friday night.

Roberts became the first Demon Deacon (8-10, 3-1 ACC) to strike out 13 in a game since big leaguer Tim Cooney fanned 14 in 2011. He threw a career-high 8.1 innings and allowed one run on five hits and three walks.

With the ballgame tied at 1-1 in the bottom of the ninth, Poteet stepped to the plate and hit a 389-foot homer over the right-field wall to end the game. Last Saturday against No. 3 Florida State, he turned a 3-2 deficit into a 4-3 win with a walk-off two-run homer.

In the fourth inning, Chris Lanzilli, Logan Harvey (3-for-4) and Chase Mascolo started the inning with three-consecutive singles, then an error allowed a run to score.

Drew Campbell hit his first home run of the season for the Cardinals (15-3, 2-2 ACC) to tie the game at 1-1 in the seventh inning.

Wake Forest threatened in the eighth when Michael Ludowig hit a pinch-hit double and advanced to third on a sacrifice. But with the infield in, Bobby Seymour hit a hard grounder right at the shortstop and the next batter struck out to end the inning.

In the top of the ninth, Louisville loaded the bases on a Devin mann walk, Logan Wyatt single and intentional walk to Campbell.

Rayne Supple entered with the bases loaded and one out and forced a 6-4-3 double play on the third pitch he threw to set up Poteet's heroics in the bottom of the inning.

Game two of the series is set for 4 p.m. on Saturday, while the third game is at 11 a.m. Sunday.
