Deacs Head to Chapel Hill
• The No. 1 Wake Forest men's tennis team looks to bounce back after its first defeat of the season on Wednesday, March 28, as the Deacs travel to Chapel Hill to take on No. 5 North Carolina.
• The top-5 showdown will begin at 3 p.m. at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
Last Time Out
• The Demon Deacons fell for the first time all season with a 4-3 defeat at No. 20 Florida State on Sunday, March 25.
• After taking the doubles point with victories over a pair of ranked doubles teams, the Deacs were only able to claim two singles matches.
• It was Wake Forest's first ACC defeat since April 15, 2016, when the Deacs fell at No. Virginia, 5-2.
Deacs In The Rankings
• The Demon Deacons, after being ranked No. 1 to begin a season for the first time in program history, remain the top team in the weekly ITA rankings. They have been the No. 1 team in the USTA rankings for the last five weeks as well.
• Individually, five singles players and three doubles teams are ranked in the latest ITA rankings. The singles rankings are highlighted by Petros Chrysochos (No. 7) and Borna Gojo (No. 29), while the Chrysochos and Skander Mansouri team up to form the No. 2 doubles team in the country.
Scouting the Opponent
• North Carolina enters Wednesday's contest 13-3 overall and 4-0 in ACC play.
• William Blumberg leads the Tar Heel attack, as he is ranked second in the country in singles play and partners with Robert Kelly to form the third-ranked doubles team.
• Wake Forest won the regular season meeting a year ago, 4-3, with the Tar Heels knocking the Deacs out of the NCAA Tournament with a 4-2 decision in the quarterfinals.
• Sam Paul is in his 25th season at the helm of the program.
Next Time Out
• The Deacs open a four-match homestand on Friday, April 30, as No. 10 Florida comes to town. First serve is set for 3 p.m.
