Wake Forest Wraps Up Competition at Raleigh Relays

RALEIGH, N.C. - The Wake Forest men's and women's track and field team earned five more top-10 finishes in the final day of competition at the Raleigh Relays Saturday.
The Demon Deacons finish the two-day meet against tough competition with eight top-10 finishes and two event titles.
Tesia Kempski claimed the pole vault invite title Saturday and set a personal best after clearing a height of 4.00m (13-1.15) on her first attempt. Entering today's invite competition, Kempski's best cleared height in the outdoor pole vault was 3.93m (12-10.5).
Elijah Shalaway had another strong performance in the javelin, taking second with a best throw of 64.38m (211-3), just under two feet shy of his career high.
Also in the field, Alva Hicks threw a 55.87m (183-3) in the hammer throw, good for sixth overall.
On the track, John Archie finished eighth in the men's 800m with a time of 1:51.76. The women's 4x400m relay team, consisting of Cydney Delley, Jordan Banks, Grace Hofferber and Emma Gallagher, ran its fastest time since 2011 at 3:48.56, good for seventh, while the men's team, consisting of Kaleb Bryant, John Archie, Matt Konigsberg and Robbie Barr, ran 3:20.56, good for 13th.
Other results from the field include Darby Deutsch tying for 13th in the pole vault and a 14th-place finish by Rachel Kern in the javelin while Dakota Greenwalt finished 16th in the 800m and Noah Shute took 17th in the men's 200m.
Competing unattached, redshirt senior Sebastian Fischbach finished sixth in the men's 1500m with a time of 3:46.84.
Up next, the Demon Deacons will compete at the High Point VertKlasse meeting April 6-7.
