From the Staff
"This weekend's meet showed strong early-season progress for our men's and women's teams. We had several athletes put themselves in position to qualify for regionals, as well as many hot marks for ACC qualification. We also had a school record performance by Angelina [Perez] that highlighted the level we're capable of. We still have a number of very strong athletes set to return in the coming weeks, which will add even more depth to the team. Overall, we're in a solid place for late March, but there's still plenty of work ahead as we continue building toward championship season." - Director of Track & Field and Cross Country John Hayes
"We always enjoy competing at Raleigh Relays. It's a great opportunity early in the outdoor season to test our fitness against strong competition. We saw a lot of positives, particularly in the steeple and 10K, with Angelina Perez setting a new school record, and Elizabeth Whaley delivering a big performance in the 1500. There's still work to do, but it was a solid starting point and we're looking forward to the rest of the season." - Associate Head Coach Ashley Bastron
"Rosalind Gergely and Samantha Heyison continue their success setting personal bests in back-to-back meets. The throws crew will reset this next week in preparation for big performances at the Wake Forest Invitational." - Assistant Coach Justin Clickett
"This was a strong second meet of the season as we recorded some personal bests. This is a team that's ready to keep building. Today was proof that hard work pays off. Our ladies are ready for a heptathlon opener in two weeks. Overall, we're excited for what's ahead!" - Assistant Coach Ryan Grinnell
"I thought we had a lot to be proud of this weekend. We knocked out some regional qualifiers in a couple events and competed well across many more. I know we will get better as the outdoor season progresses." - Assistant Coach Brandon Hazouri
