From the Staff
"This weekend was a great step forward for both our men and women. Now we are looking at performing well for the home crowd next weekend. The Wake Forest Invitational will feature many of the best track and field athletes in the eastern half of the United States. It's a fun meet as well with the Fratelli's Demon Deacon 4x100 meter student relay and the Alumni Mile." - Director of Track & Field and Cross Country John Hayes
"The women competed well this weekend, taking full advantage of the strong competition and ideal conditions. We saw a great outcome in both the 1500 and steeplechase, with everyone running either a season best or personal best. Now we turn our focus to preparing for our home meet next week." - Associate Head Coach Ashley Bastron
"Strong showing for Wake Throws this weekend at the Duke Invitational. Rosa Gergely continues her success in the javelin, throwing 51.60 meters and winning the event. Casey Sullivan finished runner up in the women's shot with a huge personal-best of 15.51 meters. Samantha Heyison also set a new personal best and Jazmine Thompson had her best series to date in the women's shot. Things are falling into place as we prepare for the championship season." - Assistant Coach Justin Clickett
"Seren Rodgers put together a 400-plus point personal best and Julia Aere added over 100 points to hers, which is a great way to open their first heptathlon of the season. I'm really proud of both of them. They've put in a lot of work leading up to this, and it showed with how consistent they were across all seven events. We're excited about the result, but we're also motivated to get back to work and keep building. We had this meet circled as an opportunity for big breakthroughs, and it was great to see them take that step forward." - Assistant Coach Ryan Grinnell
"I thought we had a strong day today. Natalia [Issler] was really impressive in her first 800 of the year. I'm also really proud of Amy [Weybrecht]. That was a nice personal-best for her. The 800 meter guys competed well and I think they're ready for a big result soon." - Assistant Coach Brandon Hazouri
