Walters Named Strickland Award Finalist

NORMAN, Okla. – Wake Forest men's golf associate head coach Dan Walters was one of six finalists for the 2018 Jan Strickland Outstanding Assistant Coach Award, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced on Wednesday (Apr. 18). The award is presented annually to an assistant coach who has excelled in working with their student-athletes both on the course and in the classroom.
Joining Walters on the list of finalists are Jake Amos of South Carolina, Robert Duck of Florida State, Corey Maggard of Auburn, Garrett Runion of LSU and Lee White of Florida Southern.
Walters is in his ninth season at Wake Forest and fourth as associate head coach. The Demon Deacons have won two team titles this season in addition to three other top-three finishes. Six different players have posted a top-10 individual finish this season, including four with a top-5 finish. In the classroom, five Wake Forest golfers earned Dean's List honors in the fall.
Wake Forest returns to action Friday-Sunday with the ACC Championship at Old North State Club in Uwharrie Point, N.C.
