Kupcho Co-Leader After NCAA Second Round

By Wake Forest Athletic Communications (@WakeWGolf)STILLWATER, Okla. – Wake Forest junior Jennifer Kupcho continues to lead the individual field at the NCAA Championship following Saturday's second round at Karsten Creek Golf Course. Kupcho carded a 2-over 74 to finish the day at 5-under in a three-way tie for the lead.
On the team leaderboard, Wake Forest is tied with Colorado for 14th place at 31-over after 36 holes following a 13-over second round. After a late weather delay, the Demon Deacons finished the round strong as the scoring four players played the final two holes in 5-under par.
"We got off to a very slow start today, but our students never gave up," said head coach Dianne Dailey. "They hung in there and kept grinding until the end. Their grit was rewarded with five birdies on the last two holes. We put ourselves in position to make the cut tomorrow and to move up the leaderboard. We are excited for Jennifer and our team."
Kupcho, who tied the Karsten Creek scoring record with a first-round 65 on Friday, had three birdies and five bogeys during her second round. She is tied with Cheyenne Knight of Alabama and Bianca Pagdanganan of Arizona for the 36-hole lead at 5-under as just 10 players in the field of 132 are under par.
The low round of the day for the Demon Deacons was recorded by Siyun Liu, who shot a 1-under 71. Emilia Migliaccio birdied the final two holes to finish her round of 75, while Mai Dechathipat rounded out the scoring four for the Deacs with a round of 81.
The NCAA Championship continues Sunday and runs through Wednesday at the Karsten Creek Golf Course. All 24 teams play the first three rounds before the field is cut to 15 teams for Monday's final round of stroke play. The top eight teams following the fourth round compete in match play Tuesday and Wednesday for the team title.
