WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Six Wake Forest pitchers combined to allow just one run on six hits and one walk with 12 strikeouts in a 5-1 win over Radford at David F. Couch Ballpark on Tuesday night.

In a tune-up after having the weekend off for final exams, the Demon Deacon (22-26) pitchers didn't miss a beat as they held the Highlanders (20-27) scoreless over the final seven innings of play.

Tyler Witt (2-3) earned the win with 3.0 shutout frames in relief, striking out a pair and allowing three hits.

Antonio Menendez struck out the side in the sixth and Rayne Supple did the same in the ninth, while Chris Farish and Morgan McSweeney tossed scoreless innings in between.

Colin Peluse started and allowed one run on two hits and a walk with two strikeouts in 2.0 innings.

After Wake Forest's bats were quiet the first three innings, the Deacs got on the board in the fourth thanks to back-to-back doubles from Bobby Seymour and Chris Lanzilli to tie the game at 1-1.

Wake Forest took the lead in the fifth. Johnny Aiello hit an RBI single, Seymour hit a sacrifice fly and Lanzilli hit his second double into the left-field corner in as many innings to push the Deacs ahead, 4-1.

Logan Harvey capped off the scoring in the sixth as he walked and came around to score on a wild pitch.

Jake Mueller added two hits, a walk and a stolen base. While the pitching staff conceded only one walk, the Wake Forest hitters drew six, led by two from DJ Poteet.

The lone Highlander to record a multi-hit game was Matt Roth (2-for-4). Radford scored its only run on a successful squeeze bunt by Garrett Matheny in the second inning.

Mack Krupp started for Radford and threw 2.0 shutout innings, but Wake Forest scored off the first three Highlander relievers: Ryan Bywaters (1 ER), Austin Gerber (3 ER - 2-3 record) and Brandon Donovan (1 ER).

Wake Forest returns to ACC play this weekend, traveling to No. 5 NC State for a three-game series.
