Cross Country Opens 2018 Friday at Charlotte Opener

Eleven Demon Deacons will compete Friday evening
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Wake Forest men's and women's cross country teams begin their 2018 season Friday evening as they compete at the Charlotte Opener.
The meet, held at Frank Liske Park in Concord, North Carolina, will feature six teams in host Charlotte, Georgia, Queens, North Carolina, West Virginia and Wake Forest.
The men kick off the evening with the 5k at 6 p.m. followed by the women's 5k at 6:30 p.m.
The Demon Deacons will send 11 athletes to the race, five men and six women. Nick Beglane, Tommy Johnston, John LePino, Andrew Magiera and Myers McKinney will represent the men on Friday. Competing for the women are Kaitlin Derry, Kristen Haynes and Kathryn Kenwood while freshmen Spencer Faircloth, Meredith Helton and Rylee Kopchak are competing for the first time as Demon Deacons.
After Friday, the Deacs will compete in the adidas Cross Country Invitational on Sept. 14 hosted by Winthrop in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
