Four different Deacons found the back of the net as Wake Forest recorded its biggest margin of victory over a Big Ten foe.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Four different Demon Deacons found the back of the net as Wake Forest defeated Michigan, 4-0, at Spry Stadium on Thursday night.
Estelle Laurier led the way for the Demon Deacons (2-1-1) with a four-point night as she totaled a goal and two assists.
The four-goal victory over the Wolverines (3-2-0) is Wake Forest's largest winning margin over a Big Ten foe in program history.
Wake Forest's first two goals came just 55 seconds apart. A cross from Laurier was delivered perfectly for a Ryanne Brown header for her first-career goal at the 25:02 mark.
At the 25:57 mark, Laurier scored from 10 yards out off assists from Bayley Feist and Giovanna DeMarco.
In just her second game back from injury, Hulda Arnarsdottir hit a one-timer from the edge of the six-yard box off another Laurier cross to put the Deacs up 3-0 less than 90 seconds into the second half.
Abby McNamara added her first goal of the season in the 74th minute. Peyton Perea sent a long ball down the right sideline, where a sprinting Ashley Frank delivered a cross into the box for McNamara's finish.
Nonie Frishette earned her first clean sheet between the posts, saving all four shots on goal she faced. Wake Forest held a 13-8 advantage in shots and a 4-2 margin in corner kicks.
Coaching on his 57th birthday, head coach Tony da Luz improved to 5-1 all-time in games played on his birthday, Aug. 30.
Wake Forest has another Big Ten showdown on Sunday, welcoming No. 5 Penn State to Spry Stadium at 6 p.m.
