Nine Demon Deacons crossed the line in the season opener

CONCORD, N.C. – The Wake Forest men's and women's cross country teams opened the 2018 season Friday evening at the Charlotte Opener in Concord, North Carolina.

Kathryn Kenwood paced the Demon Deacons on the women's side, finishing 12^th overall with a time of 18:53.10. In her collegiate cross country debut, Meredith Helton crossed the line next in 13^th with a time of 19:04.00.

On the men's side, sophomore John LePino led the Deacons with a 15^th-place finish in a time of 15:55.20. After him was Myers McKinney and Nick Beglane with back-to-back 24^th and 25^th place finishes.

As a team, the men finished fourth overall.

Up next, the Demon Deacons will compete at the Winthrop adidas Cross Country Invitational on Sept. 15 in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
