The Matchup
• Wake Forest wraps up nonconference play at home Sunday evening against Longwood at 6 p.m. on ACC Network Extra.
• Sunday's match will be Senior Night for Kate Ravenna.
Last Time Out
• The Deacs fell at No. 19 South Carolina, 2-0, in their first true road match of the season.
• Six Demon Deacons recorded shots but only two of those were on goal. Nonie Frishette recorded four saves in the loss.
Quick Kicks
• The Demon Deacons return 18 players from the 2017 roster this season, including four of their top-five scorers from a year ago in Bayley Feist, Hannah Betfort, Estelle Laurier and Sofia Rossi.
• The Deacs welcome nine freshmen and grad transfer Mariah Lee to the squad in 2018.
• Wake Forest has one of the toughest schedules in the nation this season. The team will face 13 squads that made it to the NCAA Tournament in 2017, including two College Cup teams in South Carolina and Duke. With the release of this week's polls on Sept. 4, the Deacs have played or will play 10 of the top-25 teams.
Scouting the Lancers
• Longwood finished as the Big South runner-up in 2017 and were predicted to finish second again in the 2018 Big South Preseason Coaches Poll
• The Lancers are coming off a 4-3 win over Howard after falling to UNCG, 1-0, a few days prior.
• Senior Kelly Almeida and sophomore Carrie Reaver lead the offensive attack with two goals each. Junior Emily Kupsov led the team in goals last season with seven and has one in 2018.
• Sophomore keeper Madison Van Dyke holds all decisions in goal this season, playing 566:54 with 22 saves and a 1.27 goals against average.
Series History
• Sunday's meeting will be the first-ever between the two programs. It will be the only regular-season game of the season for the Deacs against a new opponent.
Da Luz Nears 300
• Head coach Tony da Luz is just three wins away from his 300th career victory at 297-200-47.
• Da Luz recorded a 46-42-5 record in five seasons at San Diego before his transition to Wake Forest, where he has a 251-158-44 mark in 22 seasons.
• He achieved his 250th win at Wake Forest in the 4-0 victory over Michigan on Aug. 30, his 57th birthday.
Looking Ahead
• The Demon Deacons open ACC play on Saturday, Sept. 15 against Boston College. That game is set for 7 p.m. on ACC Network Extra.
• The match will be Senior Night for keeper Nonie Frishette.
