Wake Forest is 6-1 for the fourth time in school history and the first time since 2006

It was the first win for the Demon Deacons (6-1, 2-1 ACC) over the Seminoles (3-4, 2-3 ACC) since the 2011 season. Wake Forest is also bowl eligible which is the second-earliest date in school history in which the Deacons achieved its sixth win of the season.Â

Hartman stepped in for an injured Jamie Newman and threw for 308 yards and rushed for an additional 43 rushing yards. Running back Cade Carney had 54 yards rushing and a touchdown while wide receiver Sage Surratt had seven catches for 170 yards. Wide receiver Kendall Hinton added seven catches and 93 receiving yards.Â

Sciba tied a school-record with five field goals including the fourth quarter game-winning kick.Â

How It Happened:
Sciba kicked two first quarter field goals and added one more at the start of the second quarter as Wake Forest led 9-0. Florida State got on the board with a touchdown shortly after with the Seminoles pulling within two.Â

Sciba added another field goal, his fourth of the game, midway through the second frame for a 12-7 lead. The Seminoles scored a 19-yard touchdown late in the quarter to take a 14-12 advantage into halftime.

Cade Carney put the Demon Deacons back on top by a score of 19-14 early in the fourth with a 3-yard touchdown run off the direct snap. Wake Forest needed only six plays for 61 yards in a 1:35 for the go-ahead score.Â

Florida State countered with a 36-yard touchdown but failed on the two-point conversion as the Seminoles held a 20-19 lead.

With 8:45 remaining in the fourth quarter, Newman led Wake Forest on a 10-play, 62-yard drive that ended in a Sciba 25-yard field goal, putting Wake Forest up 22-20 with 4:18 to play.

Florida State attempted a 50-yard field goal with 2:02 left in the game but missed it wide left as Wake Forest defeated the Seminoles 22-20.

Key Play:
Trailing 20-19 and facing a 3rd-and-10 situation, Carney powered through several Seminole defenders down to the Florida State 44-yard line, setting up the game-winning Sciba field goal.

Defensive Stat Leaders:
Nasir Greer had a team-high 11 tackles with eight solo stops. Ja'Cquez Williams had nine tackles and a forced fumble. Chase Monroe recorded his first-career interception.Â
