Wake Well-Represented in Final Fall ITA Rankings

TEMPE, Ariz- Wake Forest completed the 2019 fall season placing two singles players and two doubles teams in the final Oracle ITA Division I Fall Rankings, the organization announced Wednesday.
On the singles side, the Campana sisters made strong debuts in black and gold. Sophomore Carolyn Campana leads the Deacs ranked 44th after being ranked 88th to start her fall campaign. Campana earned a bid to the ITA National Fall Championships after advancing to the semifinals of the Carolina Regionals.
Freshman Anna Campana makes her first appearance in the rankings, coming in at number 82. After suffering a first-round loss at the ITA Carolina Regionals, Campana made a run and went on to win the consolation draw. To open the season, Campana picked up four wins at the Battle of the Bay to earn a spot in the finals where she came up just short of the title.
Eliza Omirou and MC Meredith entered the final ranking of the fall at No. 10. The last Deacon duo to rank in the top-10 was Chandler Carter and Emma Davis at No. 5 in the 2018-19 preseason rankings. Meredith and Omirou earned an alternate bid into the ITA National Fall Championships, making a run to the quarterfinals of the event. The pair was ranked 23rd to start the year.
The final pair in the rankings is sophomore tandem Anna Brylin and Saby Nihalani at No. 46. Brylin and Nihalani impressed at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla. They were selected as an on-site alternate, earning three straight victories in the qualifying draw to earn a spot in the main draw.
