Deacs Ready for Oracle ITA National Fall Championships

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – Wake Forest men's and women's tennis will both send players to the 2019 ITA National Fall Championships in California. On the men's side Bar Botzer and Rrezart Cungu will represent the Deacs, while sophomore Carolyn Campana will compete on the women's side. Doubles pair Eliza Omirou and MC Meredith are alternates in the women's doubles draw. The event begins Wednesday, Nov. 6 and runs through Sunday, Nov. 10.
Botzer and Cungu earned automatic bids into the tournament after advancing to the semifinals of the ITA Carolina Regionals. The finals of Carolina Regionals featured a battle of the Deacs as Botzer defeated Cungu 6-4, 7-6 (5).
88th-ranked Campana also advanced to the semifinals of the ITA Carolina Regionals to earn a bid to the National Fall Championships.
Round of 64 singles matches will begin on Wednesday at 8 a.m., followed by Round of 32 doubles matches. The women will play at Newport Beach Tennis Club and the men will compete at The Tennis Club at Newport Beach Country Club.
