Deacs Fall to No. 8 North Carolina

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.- Wake Forest (9-15, 2-10 ACC) fell to No. 8 North Carolina (20-5, 10-2 ACC) 95-57 at the LJVM Coliseum on Saturday afternoon.
 
Jaylen Hoard led the Deacs with 17 points and six rebounds, giving the freshman his 18th game of the season with double figures. 
 
In the first start of his career, Isaiah Mucius scored seven points and attacked the glass for a team-high six rebounds. Olivier Sarr added eight points and collected four boards, while Chaundee Brown contributed nine points. 
 
North Carolina opened the game strong, going on an 18-0 run before Torry Johnson converted a three at 13:35 for Wake Forest's first field goal of the game. The Deacs finished the half trailing the Tar Heels 49-21. Brown led the offensive attack with six points on 2-of-4 shooting in the opening frame.
 
Sarr opened up the second half with a jumper, but the Tar Heels answered with a 7-0 run to make the score 56-23 with 17:54 to go. North Carolina continued to outscore Wake Forest in the remaining minutes to win the game, 95-57.
 
The Deacs will play their next game on the road against Notre Dame on Feb. 19 at 7:00 pm. The game will be broadcast on ESPNU.
