Wake Forest wins three event titles in their final indoor regular season competition

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Wake Forest men's and women's track & field teams closed out the indoor regular season with three event titles, four heat victories and 13 top-10 finishes at the JDL DMR Invitational, Feb. 15-16 at JDL Fast Track.

Alva Hicks claimed her fourth women's weight throw crown of the season on day two of the meet. Also, on the women's team, Tesia Kempski cruised to victory in the women's pole vault. Grace Hofferber had a full day on Saturday. She took seventh in the women's 200m and eighth in the 400m.

Friday night belonged to Janese Lynch. The sophomore from Darby Township, Pa. took care of business ahead of next weekend's ACC Championships. Lynch won the women's shot put event with a mark of 14.29m.

Hicks' weight throw title is her third-straight in the event and is a great momentum builder for the senior ahead of ACC's in Blacksburg, Va.

Kane Aldrich continued to represent Wake Forest well in the men's pole vault. The freshman finished third with a new personal best of 5.00m. Fellow freshman, Anthony Jones, finished fifth in the men's high jump at 1.92m.

On the track, Dakota Greenwalt and Evan Simmons rolled to heat victories in the men's 400m. Ethan Roach finished fifth in the 60m dash finals with a time of 7.01. In the distance events, Andrew Magiera crushed his previous best time with an 8:45.33 finish in the men's 3000m. Brionne Pyles earned a heat win in her first career attempt in the women's 400m, clocking in at 1:01.16. Teammate Ali Belvin set her own personal best in the 400m at 1:00.40.
